The Indian Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour on the SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram campus. The national flag was unfurled by the Director of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr. Gurumurthy. 

The flag hoisting was followed by a cultural programme by the tiny tots from the hospital campus. Here boys sing songs in the praise of the Motherland

The songs were followed by a dance presentation by the little girls from the campus.

Hon. Justice (Retired) K. Kannan, the Chairman of the Railway Claims Tribunal, New Delhi visited the hospital during the Conference on "Human Values and the Legal World", organised by SSSCT at Prasanthi Nilayam.

The department of Gastroenterology Endoscopy celebrated its 10th Anniversary on the 10th July, 2018. 

The staff members of the department had a short bhajan session which was followed by talks by Dr. Hari Conjeevaram and Dr. Surya Sastri, both visiting consultants to the Gastroenterology Department

Punjab Sevadal performed seva at the hospital during the month of July.

Few people know that the 100 acre campus of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, is a nature's paradise. Initially it was a barren land, but now many plant and bird varieties have made the campus their home. The latest entrant being Indian National Bird the Peacock.

Fewer people know that there is a hill inside the hospital campus, which provides a breathtaking vista of the entire area. For example the previous photo and the one next are taken from the top of the hill.

Job done, going downhill now. It is actually an easy walk down, the angle of the photo makes it look a bit scary. 

Yes the Peacock, we almost forgot. Here are two on top of a tree, in the campus. Well they won't allow any human venture any closer than that. Too shy. 

So our friend here is called the Streaked Weaver bird. He builds intricate nests for the family and toils the whole day collecting long blades of grass and lets his creativity take care of the rest. Some of these nests have many enclosures (rooms?) and prefers low shrubs to build the nest than trees.
